The transition from working in a hospital to working at an incident site does not simply involve putting on a reflective jacket and a pair of boots. The Health service, like the Police, Fire and Ambulance services, must be skilled in command and communications skills and this requires knowledge and training.
The MIMMS 1-day Health Response (Team Provider) Course has been developed to allow all Medical, Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, and Mental Health staff to gain an understanding of scene command and control, communication, and the management of casualties at a disaster/major incident scene.
The completion of ‘Mass Casualty Triage Training’ (course number 122605241 accessed through My Health Learning) is a prerequisite.
Applications are to be made via My Health Learning: Major Incident Medical Management Support (MIMMS) - Team Member Course
